Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is effective in controlling chronic and acute pain, reducing stress, and creating a sense of relaxation and well being. It is proven to provide relief for a variety of problems & conditions, including pregnancy, muscle pain, Joint pain, tendonitis, sprains, strains, carpal tunnel syndrome, jaw pain, migraines, tension headaches, Arthritis, Plantar fasciitis, Whiplash, and neck and shoulder tension.

Our Registered Massage Therapists are trained in the latest techniques to provide you with a treatment plan tailored to suit your needs. Techniques such as Deep Tissue Massage, Cupping, Hydrotherapy, Pregnancy Massage (Pre- and Post-Natal), Remedial Massage, Sports Massage, Therapeutic Massage, TMJ Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Cervical Massage, Muscle Energy Technique, Myofascial Release, Active Isolated Stretching, Rib and Thoracic Massage, and Abdominal treatments.

During massage treatments it is important that you communicate your level of comfort with your therapist at all times. Please advise your therapist if you would like more or less pressure at any point during your treatment. It is common to experience an increased tenderness; pain and/or bruising with massage treatments.

With massage therapy you can receive relief from muscular pain and tension, obtain an increased range of motion of affected joints, and increased well-being. Massage Therapy is a natural healing process that can deliver both physical and emotional benefits.

Massage Treatment time includes: Assessment, Massage Treatment, Discussion of Home Care (i.e.: Hydrotherapy, Stretches etc.), Follow-Up and Treatment Plan.

Advanced Pregnancy Massage

We offer Advanced Massage Therapy treatments for all stages of pregnancy. Whether you are in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd Trimester, during labor, or post partum, we can provide you with safe, comfortable, relaxation and/or therapeutic treatments. We treat many pregnancy associated conditions such as thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS), sinus congestion, calf cramping relief, pubic symphysis separation, swelling, low back strain & pain, hip pain, rib pain, trouble breathing, and neck & shoulder pain/numbness.

Massage during pregnancy:

  • Helps alleviate sore muscles, decrease pain and discomfort
  • Promotes a decrease in the effects of both mental & physical stress of pregnancy
  • Increases circulation for mom & baby, reduces swelling
  • Decreases obstetrical complications
  • Lets you enjoy this special time more

Massage after labor:

  • Reduces tightness, pain & stress in upper back, and neck & arms from caring for a newborn & nursing a newborn
  • Helps to encourage pre-pregnancy pelvic alignment
  • Therapists can provide information on nursing posture, strengthening those tummy muscles & core
  • Allows mom to rest & relax for a 1 hour treatment

TMJ: Neck, Head & Jaw Master Training

This course has given Shalla Riemer, RMT advanced training in evaluating and treating patients with an assortment of Jaw problems:

  • TMD
  • Jaw Pain
  • Decreased Jaw range of motion
  • Clenching
  • Grinding
  • Clicking
  • Popping

Curriculum:

  • Mechanics and Pathomechanics of the TMJ “Temporomandibular Joint” (AKA: JAW)
  • Elevator Muscle Evaluation and Treatment
  • Restoring Normal Head and Neck Alignment
  • Categories of TMJ Dysfunction
  • Treatment Planning and Referral

Treatment is done externally, to neck (Anterior & Posterior muscles), face, and jaw. Then intra-Oral treatment is offered, with the use of gloves, where the therapist treats muscles from inside the mouth.

***Massage Therapy is covered by most health insurance / extended health benefits. Some plans cover the treatment cost to a maximum set amount, while others will cover a percentage of each visit. Some plans require a Doctors Note (prescription) to be able to claim your massage receipts. To know if your treatments will be covered under your health plan, please contact your insurance provider, prior to your first treatment.  All of our massage therapists are Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) with the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan (MTAS) or the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHCP).***
